Intro to Sock Knitting 27th August

Learn to knit socks, by knitting a baby sock from the top down or toe-up, using double pointed or circular knitting needles

Want to learn to knit socks for yourself or for gifting? Then this workshop is for you.

Sock knitting is a great small project, which you can carry around with you, unlike a sweater or blanket!

Mec and Marcia will show how what you need to know. They are prolific sock knitters!

During the workshop, you will be using 4 ply yarns to knit a small, baby sock and you will learn:

  • Stretchy cast on methods

  • Knitting a ribbed cuff

  • Knitting the leg

  • Increasing stitches for the toes

  • Turning a heel

  • Grafting stitches/Casting off method

  • Reading a pattern

Optional - you can bring your own 4 ply sock yarn, at least 50 - 100g, and appropriate needles: 2.25mm - 2.75mm. Cable length at least 80 - 100cms if using a pair of circular needles.

During the workshop, materials and light refreshments will be provided. Also, we'll give you 10% off on the day, for you to spend on full-priced stock, so you can continue sock knitting, in your own time.

This workshop is suitable for adults only. You must know how to knit to do this workshop, as we will not be showing you how to do that, during the session.

We need to have between 3 - 6 paid attendees, so the workshop can take place.
